The Alessi Blow Up Citrus Basket designed by Fratelli Compana in 2004. Despite their quite evident Italian origins, the Campana brothers are actually Brazilian through and through, and they are without doubt to be included amongst the most interesting phenomena of recent young international design.
“Blow up”, the family of objects marks the start of a collaboration that will hopefully be long and fruitful. They have brought a healthy breath of fresh Brazilian and sub-equatorial air and poetry to European design with the idea of assembling hypothetical off cuts of steel wire, welding them together to form various types of containers.
Their work is hallmarked by the use of materials in their raw state and by experimentation with poor and recycled matter.
